iOS 6.0.1 and MFT 3.0.2. Maybe I'll try it again when i get home tonight. I might be missing something. Do you happen to have a screen shot of where to go for the last step? Is it on the phone or on the MFT. I couldn'f find it anywhere.

Maybe do a how-to on it and get it stickied?

You mean "connect" on MFT? That is on the main phone screen in MFT. I should note that I never tried this w/3.0.2 or 3.2.2 (after the iOS update) because I was always fighting other problems and it was the furthest thing from my mind. Could require 3.5.1 but I don't know for sure.

Edit: Some over at SMR that could not get it to work on 3.0.2 or 3.2.2 have recently updated to 3.5.1 and have been able to get messages. Confirmation it requires 3.5.1.

I was skeptical at first but I was so surprised when this actually worked! I can receive text messages on MFT now! Hopefully it works consistently.

It's kinda sad though because lots of people won't know to go through all those steps to get it working. It should work when you pair your phone the first time, without all the disconnecting and reconnecting steps. I just hope Ford reps around the country can inform customers that it does indeed work if you know what to do.

Thanks copernicium112!

I just got a iPhone 5 and have a SE with Sync and using this video I was able to get sync to receive and read a text message.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LcrYY9V7_w

Don't think that one can send a message, but if you use the bluetooth audio and Siri you can send a test message. I haven't tried it yet but it should work.

Does anyone know if the SYNC in a Fiesta can do this too? My sister-in-law wants her set up and im going to visit on the 30th and help set it up that day.

Well for anyone that is interested sending a text message via Siri did not work as it did in the video. What happens in my car when I activate Siri is the radio switches over to the phone, and then it works over the radio. I tried this while playing music via bluetooth audio and it will switch to the phone and then back to bluetooth audio.

So, after working fine for 2 weeks, MFT suddenly stopped receiving text messages from my 4S...

I had to go through all the steps to enable text messaging again. I guess it doesn't take too long but it's a little annoying.

How many of you got texting to work, then had it stop working and had to repeat the process again?

I did not know there was an update this week...

I'm still on iOS 6.0.1 and when I go to Software Update on my phone, it shows that it is up to date.

Also, I have MFT so the steps in your video are different from mine.

*Update: The iOS 6.0.2 update is only for the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.

Hey, everyone -

Per our recent testing of the iPhone 5, we found Apple used a non-standardized implementation of Bluetooth MAP on iOS6. As a result, iPhones will not function with SYNC’s text messaging feature. However, we'll continue to work with Apple to ensure future compatibility.
