There is no oil shortage ,cars like mine can easily do 80 mph and still get 35 mpg . Another politician wanting to waste tax payer dollars

Truck mileage goes down after 70 , I know I've owned several including brand new ones . I always stayed at 70 or under even when here in Texas mph on some highways is higher . Now my Corolla and my focus can do 80 and still get 35-36 mpg easily . And to claim there is some gas shortage is false

If you are a German you will pay 1200 euro for drivers ED and this is give by a German Polizei (cop) this class will take 1 year. After you pass this class you are a license driver now if you get just two speeding tickets in a year you can not drive again in europe!!! Now i know why so many people ride bikes take cabs and ride the train and just walk. Thay have flash cameras that catch you speeding if caught going over 7km. You get a ticket in the mail in about 7 to 10 days and it must be paid with in 7 days after it was mailed. Now this is where it get very tricky the German government pays germans that dont have a job 1 euro an hour to operate these cameras. And thay can be any where at there house in there drive way at bus stops even in a parked car and you hardly ever see them in the same spot yes thay move daily. And if you like to mod your car ha ha germany sucks you pay tax on every mod you do CAI, Springs, rims, cams anything you do. Get caught you will pay a hefty fine and again if you have a moded car you will be pulled over to be checked if your mods have been approved and you paid your tax for having them on your car. the polizei like to go to car meets and look at cars and set up stings at the meets. I was at one car meet with over 600 cars in the parking lot one polizei drove past next thing I know there where 30 of them there in minutes. Most of these car meet are street racing just like the movie Fast and Furious but not ricers either AMG, Porsche, Audi R8 maxed out VW, Focus Opel these car make you feel slow as shhhit.
Although I understand the point you are trying o make, you post is full of errors.

Standard German driving school is 6 months for an automobile with manual transmission.

Standard driving school with license is 2000-2500 euros.

Polizei has nothing to do with driving school or issuing a drivers license in Germany.

2 speeding tickets in one year no more license? Who told you this lie? It is all on the points system, Flensberg handles all the points and suspensions.

You can get flashed for going over 3kph or running a red light if the area has a camera established there.

Not sure what meets you hang out at but the FnF that you speak of is not the majority, it is actually very few in Germany.

yes all mods have to be listed in your Fahrzugbrief, and you are taxed on all modifications. you are also taxed on your HP rating as well.

Yes the Polizei can pull you over and do a vehicle check for modifications, I have been pulled over several times.

They can also come into a legal event and check cars as well, they have done this before at Bitburg, 1 on 1 Motorsports events I have helped organize and other events in Sembach. They like to set up around the Nuerburgring during the summer on A61 to catch people and well as A5/A67 coming out of Hockenheimring.

You also have to go through seperate licensing for motorcycles and that is much more involved than a normal vehicle license. This can take up to 2.5 years to qualify for a unlimited size engine displacemement license.

For the other person that mentioned unlimted speeds on the Autobahn, that is NOT true. The Autobahns have a speed limit, the max being 130kph(80.77mph). Most are set at 120kph(74.56mph) in suburban highways. Very few Autobahns still have unlimited sections. Most of the time you have to get out late at night or early in th emoring to get good runs on them, other wise they are too crowded to get any mainatinable speeds on them.

I have a little bit of knowledge of Germany, I speak it, I have a house, wife, dog, a car and a race car there. Sembach used to be a great place to legally race until they took up the airfield there.

BTW make sure you get some laps in at the Nuerburgring when it is raining, no one is out there and it is the best time to be on the Ring.

I think that it's all just an idea that someone believes is good, but is definitely not. It will be stopped by all the logical and rational people in Congress that drive/get driven 80 mph everywhere they go.

if you want to do any considerable gains in fuel consumption for drivers, do more work with inner city light timing between intersections. 15 cars sitting idle for 2 minutes at a red light waiting for 1 or none cars crossing is a way to start.
