DCT in the 2013 models - big improvement?

Just bought a 2013 with DCT, after some hesitation due to all the problems reported on this board concerning the DCT in the 2012's. What made me decide to go ahead is the nearly total lack of comments on the board about problems in the 2013 models. I did, however, decide to kick in an extra $1100 for the extended warranty (something I very rarely do for any purchase), which takes me out to 6 years or 75,000 miles. The peace of mind is worth it.

First impressions - this is the best time I've had in a car since my wife and I were dating in high school (if you know what I mean).

Great performance, great build, phenomenal handling. I couldn't be happier. I feel sorry for all of those who have seemed to have had such a miserable experience with their 2012 DCTs, but maybe Ford has figured it out? I sure hope so because I don't want the fun to end.

i feel , unfortunately, it's all a crap shoot.. i have a May '11 build SEL and never had a problem w/ the transmission at all.. I've had all the updates but saw little difference before or after each update.

I feel bad that many have to go thru all the crap they are going thru w/ their cars.... it just should not be.. I know im a lucky one.

My 2013 does not have any transmission issues. Hey you have the same one. I have a performance blue Ti + handling package sedan

It's a 8/28/12 or 24 build I forget now.

Technically there was no new FSA beyond 12B37 and therefore there should not be any newer software, however some people did report that there is a theoretical difference between the earlier software vs the later version of the 12B37 update in that the later update refuses to shift to 6th gear before 40 mph and then shifts down again at 39 instead of being able to get into 6th at 35 mph at light throttle or steady state cruising and then shifting back down at 33-34 mph.

Now if there were further changes at the factory level this we don't readily know.

My 2013 rental also didn't shift into 6th until 40mph. Can other 2013 owners verify this?

I have a 2012 SEL - 5/12 build as well and do not seem to notice any issues. I attribute the way that the transmission revs as normal. But then again, I do not know what I'd look for to determine otherwise. I always have power when I need it and think that the stop n' go in the city is just like a manual.

Stop and go in the city is a bit funky for an automatic, however if anyone has ever driven a manual or at least sat in one for a stop and go ride. It is pretty similar.

I will test the 6th at 40 and see.
Are you talking about using select shift to push it into 6th or counting the shifts

In my 2013 rental it was both; select shift wouldn't upshift until 40mph.

After my update I can upshift to 6th at 35mph in selectshift, but it won't until 40mph in drive.
