2012 Focus SE Transmission Grinding

Good news is, that they who test drove it 3000miles ago, did test drive today with me. And he agreed that symptoms are back. He submit the work order to Ford. He said they will not do a thing till Ford tells them to do so.
So at this point iam in line for repair I guess. That will be my second trans work, I believe after that if it not helps, I can officially file for lemon.
I don't know how long it will take before they call me back, hope as soon as possible.
PratoN, is clutch and seal replacement cost 800, if it is, pretty expensive.
I will keep you guys posted on outcome.

Parts were $767.62 not including the 6 hours of labor when I put this together a few months ago. The most expensive part is the dual-clutch kit.

I see, we looking at around 1k. That's sucks, I thought its much cheaper than torque converter job. Cause they have to do same process to get inside. I have a pictures of my old Dual Clutch, there is no oil stains on it, and It looks pretty dry. I wish I could post them, but don't know how.

I personally don’t think you should spend a dime on that car if it is under warranty. You’re already making a payment, why should you have to pay for ANY repairs as well?

Hey Scott, do you know the address of the manufacture? Also I have to find address of my regional representative, to file for relief under Lemon law. I told my dealer today that this is last time I am coming here. They submit my VIN to ford for work order. I have to wait for respond now. Also I would like to start paperwork, but can't find right address.

Wanted to post on this. We ran into the shuddering/shaking issue a few weeks ago and took the car in. Reached 15000 miles when it started happening. Dealership found the problem with the transmission and applied 11-12-13. Car runs smooth again (as smooth as the DCT was anyway). Service advisor told me that we should see the plate assembly break-in by 6k-7k miles? Least thats what I took from the convo. But after reading this thread, I hope that I am not back before that...

On another note, I had a Nissan Sentra for a rental with a real automatic in it. After driving the Focus for over a year now I feel like something is wrong with the smoother automatic tranny!

I just bought a used 2012 Focus two weeks ago, this stuttering and now a grind noise between 1st and 2nd and having a loss of power going up any hills is pretty bad. I took it to a Ford dealer for "the works" and asked about it and was told since I didn't buy it from them it was my problem not theirs, including the peeling metal on my steering wheel that has sliced my finger, I'm starting to think this was a HUGE mistake. Wouldn't the 5 year 50,000 power train warranty cover the transmission even if its used? Any and all help is appreciated, thank you!

I don't know how warranty contracts works. I thought warranty transfers no matter who ones and who buys. Usually it's 3y-36k bumper to bumper and 5y-50 power train. I would suggest to contact your seller and ask him if they had warranty at all. I my case: I bought it new 3 towns over, cause they had Sel and color was right. And I can stop by at any dealer. Unless I misunderstood what dealer told me.

Here is some more disasters happened last month, when it showed up, it gave some kind of weird siren thru dome speakers. LOL. More likely european emergency vehicles sirens. cant duplicate. :)))
