If your's was truly manufactured in the EU, it should already have DRLs.

In europe I don't think the cars had sync available yet, so the proceedures will be a little bit different.

Consult your owners guide for the details of how the system works.

Home safe lighting
Switch the ignition off and pull the
direction indicator lever towards the
steering wheel to switch the headlamps
on. You will hear a short tone. The
headlamps will go off automatically after
three minutes with any door open, or 30
seconds after the last door has been
closed.
The home safe lights can be cancelled by
either pulling the direction indicator lever
towards the steering wheel again or by
turning the ignition switch ON.

Go to the second link and search for the manual, I can't directly link to the motorcraft page as they don't allow it to be linked. Select the 2012 Model Year and then select Focus EU then it will give you a list of owners documentation, pick the latest revision of the owners manual.

That was the proceedure listed in the manual for your european model to have a programmed three minute delay with the doors open or 30 seconds after the last door is closed.

You would pull the indicator stalk (which is also the high beam switch) towards you with the ignition off until you hear the warning tone which will indicate its been programmed.

I have explained it as plainly as I can in my previous post.

Step one: Turn the car off.

Step two: pull the turn signal/ dipped beam switch towards you (this should be on the left side of the steering wheel if its laid out like the lhd cars) until you hear a chime.

This enables the pre-programmed delay to leave the head lamps on for 3 minutes with the door open or 30 seconds after the doors are closed. This is to allow you to have an illuminated path to your home.

If you want to disable it I believe the proceedure outlines pulling the stalk forward again or turning the ignition on and off.

This will only keep the lights on for a set period after turning the car off, this won't turn them back on if it is not already dark when you turn the car on.

note that in my previous chevy cruze it was possible..

thanks alot

on your steering wheel, you should have a button that says okay and has arrows. use the arrows to select the menu. then select headlights. then you can set the delay for up to 20 seconds or not at all. i just set mine for 20 seconds. mine used to be set for 0.

If you want DRLs there are several options out there, including modifying your fog lights to run of an ignition on power source so they will turn on/off with your ignition key. It is a minor wiring cut/reconnect but should be done carefully by someone who is knows how. You could get a Canadian Focus too - DRLs are required there.
incorrect sir. my car was equipped with DRL's. US built, but with Canadian setup as my car was previously a rental car. I had a technician at the Ford dealer I work at go into the BCM and turn the feature off. Took him about 40 minutes and my headlights are no longer on all the time.

I meant a Focus built to the US market and not a fleet vehicle. Along the border there are a number of cars built to Canadian specs.

Yes, but by default its set to manual, and that's where I'd prefer it to be. I don't want to leave the lights on when I get out of the car. The default has them turning off as soon as the engine is shut off.

The only other options are 20 second intervals up to 60 seconds. Since it doesn't actually let you dial in a manual delay it should really be called 0 seconds, but that's ok.

My car didn't sit around on the lot for months and no one really played with it except me, so since that's where I want it that's likely where it will stay.
