Waiting for a part for my 2012 Titanium...how long is too long?

About 6 or 7 weeks ago I was told by my service manager that they needed to order a "repair kit" to fix the headliner on my Focus.

After about 4 weeks I called to get an update and was finally told (after a bit of a runaround) that the part was on backorder.

I'm now approaching 7 weeks and still haven't heard from the dealer. Is this a normal waiting time for a part?

I'm trying to be loyal to my local dealer, but I'm starting to consider contacting the closest competing Ford dealership.

If a part is on backorder, contacting another dealer won't help, unless that other dealer happens to have one in stock. But....if your dealer is worth a , they would've checked the stock of your local dealerships before ordering a back-ordered part.

thanks...the only reason i'd contact another dealer is if i decide my local dealer is giving me the runaround and isn't really committed to fixing my headliner

i'm just trying to figure out if i'm being unreasonable in suspecting that might be the case

call 1-800-392-FORD. tell them that your dealership is waiting for a part and you would like to know if Ford can expedite it. If it's on backorder, it's probably vendor ship and Ford is most likely waiting for the manufacturer to send it to them.
