someone tagged my rear bumper in a parkinglot this weekend, looking for a replacement. anyone know if the europe focus front and/or back bumper will fit on an 05 american zx4??

Euro mk1(98-04) parts will work,(same chassis, same mount points)but it would require more than most are willing to go through. For the rear you would need mk1 bumper cover(either shave down or remove foam core) tail lights trunk lid and possibly the locking mechanism
front is bumper(same process w/ foam), headlights, hood, fenders and core support. Would personally love to see a north American mk1.5 into a euro mk1 saloon

98-05 euro focus is not the same front end i have, its the same as the first body style here. so, im assuming the rear bumper is out from the euro hatch to the american sedan, ive been looking at comparisons and it looks like where the bumper meets the hatch is different from where the bumper meets the trunk. so will the front bumper from a euro focus 2005-2007 will fit my 2005? heres another link http://www.nicedeals.co.uk/product_i...oducts_id=8365

ahh, further looking ive seen that the front bumper would fit other than the angles on the hoods are different on the euro focus. but ive been looking at the 98-01 bumpers again, are the american first and second bodystyle bumpers interchangable too??

The American 00-04 and 05-07 bumpers are interchangeable, but you have to swap the decklid and tail lights too. If you want a euro bumper you'll have to swap the decklid and tails.

The Euro MK1 Focus ran from 98-05, and the MK2 crossed over in '05 too. I guess they made both models that year like when they made the new '04 F150 along with the old one and called it the "heritage edition". Look for the EDM 98-04 / '05 MK1 bumpers, the MK2 is a larger wider car and they have nothing in common with the American Focus.

You can only use 98-04 European Focus sedan rear or all front. The 2nd gen is a lot bigger than your 1.5 gen. Either way, to convert a half-gen will take a lot of parts. The rear - you need trunklid, taillights. the front - hood, fenders, radiator support, washer bottle. Your best bet would be to find a SAP rear and front to match, it would be a lot cheaper and easier to find. Yes I know how rare and expensive the SAP is...

Meh. I think getting it exactly how I want it is a lost cause. I really wonder why the 05-07 got overlooked for the aftermarket. Thanks for all the info.

Is that the upper rad support that has to be swapped when doing an 00-04 to 05-07 conversion? And what's different about that washer bottle?

Washer bottle is in the ds fender on first gens and on the ps fender on half gens. The washer bottle must be changed to support whichever gen you are swapping to, or else the fender will bow out. The upper rad support is needed for the differences in the hoods.
