The car will only shut down when the brake is pressed and the key is not in the ignition. And the factory ford system where they steal a key is a terrible way of installing a remote start system almost as ancient as a floppy disk.

Maybe I'm just dumb but after reading through all the pages of this a few times I'm a bit lost...

What exactly is it that I need to buy (all parts), where do i get them from and what do I need to do with them to get this installed?

Hmm, that might not be so bad...was thinking if you opened the door it would shut down. Maybe I need more sleep before I read through the FF forums?

I agree, that's an insane idea, especially when you consider they designed the system...you'd think they would have come up with a relay that acts like the FOB. Oh wait, we're talking about about Ford engineers...never mind. I could right a four page essay on some of their less than wonderful ideas.

With all of that said, this is what I'm going to need to use the OEM key FOB and have a blonde friendly remote start?

So I did a little more research and I realized that Best Buy has the same iDatalink module on their website and could probably do both the install and the programming... Would this work if I approached them, told them I want the module and which firmware to use?

Here is what they have on their website: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iDatalin...link&cp=1&lp=1

Yes that is the module, and I imagine they should be able to do it. One thing I will recommend you ask is if they solder their wires or use wire taps. Dont accept anything less than a soldered connection.

and This

A complete how to may be a little hard, I don't want to get anyone in over their head doing this, so I ask that If once you read through the install diagram on www.idatalink.com guide #9849
and follow my video that you still are confused, please seek out some professional help at your local mobile audio shop, they should be able to help
