[idle issue] Is this a vacuum hose or a fuel line?
2003 focus zx3 2.0 zetec

I have a rough idle @550 rpm
I was feeling around the rear of the engine when I discovered a pinched rubber hose.
Picture is from the bottom up at the rear of the engine.
Hose in question is highlighted.
Would this hose cause a rough idle if pinched?

I can't see it clearly. But the PCV line that runs from the front to back, is problematic. Over time, the hose will soften up and collapse. Some will actually tear open. It will affect the performance. This gets posted quite a bit. Do a search for the PCV hose. I can't copy and paste from my Nook. Your pic does look like that hose.

Whats UP fellow MD Fanatic....yeah...if the PCV is jacked up...overall performan will suffer. Might be a good time go go thru all your hoses and vaccum lines and replace any that even look like they arent new. nothing like preventative maintenance opposed to on the side of the road maintenance.

That hose I have highlighted runs off to the left (from the aspect of the picture) and fits over a metal piece closer to the engine. Does this run towards the front and connect to another rubber hose, then the pcv?

I had the same problem, mine ended up being the pcv hose. it collapsed and ripped open.
had to pull the whole intake manifold to replace. pretty easy job only took about an hour.

I replaced that hose and it didn't help at all.
