In theory yes, but a dealer can't do it.

Read some more on another site and this update was for those complaining about the car rolling backwards on hill starts.People are opting to not have this update just for this reason. Going to call dealer and see if it is possible to reflash the computer with an older version of the software. Anyone know if this is possible.
Keep us updated if you found a solution.

"More than likely the noise you are hearing is the shift fork actuator motors resetting in the transmission. Unlocking the door starts this process. When the shifter is placed in park and the engine shut off, the computer places the transmission in gear and releases both clutches. When the door is unlocked the computer begins resetting the shift fork motors and clutch motors in preparation for engine start. This is directly from Ford:

2013 Focus vehicles equipped with the Powershift DPS6 transmission may
experience a clicking noise from the transmission after the doors are unlocked and prior to the engine starting for up to 3 minutes. The noise is the transmission shift motors waking up and preparing for startup. Attempts to eliminate the noise should not be made."
They they change these parts in 2013 - I've never heard anything like this on my 2012 SEL 6-speed DCT. Also, why does it repeat for three minutes? It would seem that when the shift forks are reset and the clutch motors are too, they should be quite done,eh?

I am not sure why keeps resetting but the one tech told me it takes 3minutes or so for the computer to shut down. We came to the conclussion that the only reason it stops making the noise is because the computer powers down.

This is true.

Those of you that have an OBD scan tool can confirm it.
When you open the door, you can read data (for example, engine coolant temp.) from the PCM for a couple of minutes and then the PCM will go to sleep.

Buddy, I promise you the dealer has no freakin idea what they are talking about. My dealer spent all of about 10 minutes looking on their system for the noise I described and one Salesman even said his was doing the same thing and that it was normal.

This is directly from Ford:

2013 Focus vehicles equipped with the Powershift DPS6 transmission may experience a clicking noise from the transmission after the doors are unlocked and prior to the engine starting for up to 3 minutes. I personally don't like it anymore than anyone else here does, but Ford says it's normal and there hasn't been a recall yet so I don't see where the problem is, YET.

Peace, Defender
