Exclamation Anyone with Navi MFT please chime in!

When I bought my car I insisted that it have Navi built in and all complaints/praises aside, I need to ask those of you who navi with your MFT, do you have poor or no service sometimes when in the city? Everytime I am in San Francisco by the highrises, I completely lose my navi signal and it then becomes useless. My Garmin never had any signal issues (this is not intended as a diss towards MFT, im just stating the facts.) Im hopeing you guys can chime in because if it's just me then I will have my service guy look into this when I go in tomorrow. Thanks in Advance

My navigation in the MFT works great, even in downtown St. Louis. Now the Sirius, that's a whole 'nother story. I swear I can go under a street light and have it cut out.

i hear complaints similar to this one from folks driving in Manhattan and not just w/ gps but w/ reg. fm radio reception and sat radio, and cell phone,too... at least in midtown the 'canyons' bounce around the radio waves and sometimes block them....certain companies are addressing this by placing additional relays on the sides of buildings to help w/ reception

Mine works great in downtown Boston. I do lose signal in the tunnels but MFT Nav supports "dead reckoning", which estimates your location based on vehicle speed, steering direction and etc.

All the nav cars I've owned have had spotty GPS around high rise buildings. I suspect it's normal depending on time of day and whether an orbiting sat is in view above the buildings. Signal is purely line of sight you know.

My experience so far is that if I happen to have a set destination and drive through a downtown area (highrises, ie. Montreal, Toronto, NYC), it works fine, HOWEVER... if I stop and start the car in the middle of downtown and want to continue destination, it will have a hard time repositionning. Last month while leaving my hotel in the Wall St. area (NYC), my GPS actually had my car floating over the Hudson river... only once I crossed over to Brooklyn 10 minutes later it finally kicked back in.

ˆˆˆthis is exactly what happens. I don't lose service when just driving through the city, but when I stop in the city and then when I go to go home the Navi just is lost so I have to drive around and
a)hope I can find my way home,
or
b)wait until i get signal again.

I've never had any issues with it, but I have heard of buildings cutting GPS signals before. I don't think its a ford problem.
