Holy Head Corrosion Batman......

Had the infamous Zetec thermostat housing leak.

Figured I'd fix it and replace all the hoses at the same time.

Good news, the housing is fine and in good shape.

Got the housing off and the o-ring between the housing and head was crusty and hard (looked like corrosion).

Razor-bladed the head, and it looked good but discolored where the o-ring was.

Got my dremel out with the tiny wire brush and decided to make it shiny on the head....

Good news, I got it shiny

Bad news, the discolored area was corrosion; the seal area is now pitted because I removed aluminum corrosion.....

I'm going to use ultra-black rtv with a new o-ring, so it should seal up.

This post is just a warning that leak/seapage at the housing may be water oozing thru oxidized aluminum at the head/housing mating surface...........
