Did you ever find a cause for this?
Mine is doing the same thing. I had the code for a while and decided to do the checks on mine. I cleaned the contacts (although it really looked good and smooth), I also found cracked solder joints which I reflowed with fresh solder. I really thought this was the problem. The code immediately came back. Mine has the same symptom. It moves to the long runner position on start up and then releases after a few seconds. I can move the runner by hand and don't feel any binding. It is a pretty stout spring on this runner so I guess that's normal. I wonder what tells the control module when it is closed or in the long runner position. Is there a sensor on the intake? or is there a switch in the IMRC that indicates it is fully closed. The contact and spring in my IMRC is making good contact when closed so that's not it. May be some one can chime in on this one.

I haven't figured this out. I put a brand new actuator on and it still does the same thing. I'm fed up with it at this point. If you figure it out let me know.

ok, I'll post up if I find something. By you replacing the IMRC with a new one, that eliminates that as the cause. I'm going to look at my intake and make sure it is moving smoothly.

Do you have a tune? I think it's a computer problem. I talked to Tom about it and he said the IMRC is controlable thru his tune. I think it's something stupid like the computer needs to be reflashed.

no tune here as far as I know. I just bought the car a little over a year ago. It didn't do this when I first got it. It started back this summer some time. (the last 4 - 5 months)

I don't have a tune either that I know of. My car had the light on when I got it. Hopefully someone who has dealt with this before can give us a clue.

I'm still riding around with the check engine light on. So annoying. I don't have time to deal with it right now.

ok, nearing time to get an inspection so I may have to deal with this again.
Mine moves the runner flap on start up as it should. then springs back after a few seconds. I may try to get a video of this to see if some one can compare to a correct operating system. I thought there may also be a possibility that the motor is moving too slow. I really don't know. Can some one tell me what cars have a IMRC that will work on the SVT. I know some one mentioned the cougar IMRC. Does it have the same connector. I know the cables may be a little shorter. May have to relocate the box. What other vehicles have a IMRC that would work? I may just find one at my local pull a part and try it.
