Anything over 45mph the temp gauge starts creeping up again. stop or slow down it it drops back to normal?? any ideas. my local ford dealer is a joke and i want to be prepared before i go.
When that happened to me, it was the cooling fan. Ford fixed me right up and I have not had any problems since - and it has been over a year.

Just a update. i changed the thermostat and so far it hasnt overheated. before i could only make it 8 miles before started heating up. after switching out thermostat i drove aprox 40 miles at highway speeds and no over heating let idle for 20 minutes no over heating. 75 degrees outside. will keep this updated if changes.

I have a problem where the coolant disappears over a matter of weeks. I have a few theories, but I like the advice of not giving advice or theories. But it could be . . . never mind.

I'm way behind on the result.

It took the dealer 2 months to get a adaptor so that they could get a pressure test.
They finally replaced a defective thermostat.

I checked under the hood later the day of the pick up and noticed that there was a color issue with the coolant. They had added green instead of the orange when topping up the coolant after changing the fluid. Initially, they actually said I had added the green.

They flushed it with the orange at no charge. Just a little discoloration in the overflow tank now.

No problem with coolant since. 01/21/2014

I've had my 12 focus for about a year. The past week my temp warning will come on, and then shut off in about 20 secs. The temperature spikes, and then also drops with the warning indicator. After reading through threads, guess this seems to be a common issue with this car. Taking car in on Friday.

It could just be a malfunction in the instrument panel. I think your best bet would be to take it to the professionals. Mine was over heating and it was a small crack in the coolant jug. It w at the bottom and barely visible but it was leaking slowly and we never noticed it until they took it off to fix something else and my nephew picked it up and told me it was broken. Thank God for nosey curious kids :) good luck.

Hey rkeoki,

I'd like to put you in touch with your regional customer service manager, who'll work with your dealer to come to a solution. Please send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and preferred servicing dealership.

Todd

I'm kinda glad that this seems to be a common problem that should be easy to fix but I'm getting very frustrated with my Car. I just got it back from the shop for the clutch issue (3rd time) and now I have to bring it back for the overheating issue. It happened twice to me and last time the shop just erased the fault code without any further investigation. Statement was: We can't find what's wrong with it. First time I was in stop and go traffic and the second time now just idling for 5 minutes without the AC turned on. However under the hood everything seems to be normal. No signs of overheating. I'm bringing the car back tomorrow. Hopefully they can find what's wrong with it.
