HVAC fan control on 3 is the same as 2

Anyone else have this issue?

When using my HVAC fan controls, 1 is very low, 2 up a bit, 3 is the same as 2, and 4 is loud as hell.

Can't be normal, I know 3 worked when I first got the car. Any easy fix if this is a known issue?

I wonder if the 3rd is shorted to the second. Usually certain circuits go bad on the blower motor resistor but yours is simply staying the same on 2 and 3. Weird!

I have the same issue 3 just pretty much dosent work period. I heard that happens often with the se and if anyone knows how to fix it i would like to know too.

Is there some sort of pre-filter for the outside air to go through that could be plugged? Other than that don't know.

I have the same problem... For mine it is more like 1,2, 3 1/2 then 4 lol. The culprit in question is the knob itself. I took off the dash and figured out that the knob is broken so it is essentially misaligned hence the "skip" from 3 to 4. As for a fix I'm guessing you would just have to replace the knob which I don't know if replacing just that is possible and not getting the whole bottom control unit for the ac controls. It is an easy fix. Just remove the dash and unplug all the connections, swap control units then plug everything back in. You could do a search for the dash removal if you do not know how. And search online or at a local junk yard for the part. Hope this helps.

Tradeup? Really? Do you think so? I tell ya, if my fan stops operating perfectly, I am going to get a 2013 Focus so I won't have any issues with my car whatsoever for ever!

Eh, there were a lot of incentives to the 2013. Note was only $40/month more, insurance went DOWN $12/mo, and I gained leather, a manual transmission, full MFT Sync, slightly better fuel mileage, and 70k less miles. Not to mention a color I like even better!
