That is a sweet little car.

I however don't ever expect to see many in this redneck town where in most "auto enthusiasts" minds, if its not a truck it doesn't exist.

"You're driving that little car? What are you queer or something?"

Less friction in a FWD vehicles drivetrain compared to RWD resulting in better fuel economy. Show me a RWD vehicle that gets close to 40MPG. Need you be remind that all automakers must have a fleet average of 54.5MPG by 2025.

Just for clarification, the Focus ST doesn't has a true electronic limited slip. It has the "torque vectoring system" which has an open differential and uses the ESC to apply brake pressure the wheel losing traction. It's basically the next best thing but not the real deal.

That is all true. FWD also allows more interior space due to the absence of a longitudinal positioned transmission and drive shaft. And if you live in a place where it snows FWD is great.

Then there is production class rally cars of the 2WD variety, FWD is where its at.

Of course, I will say that rear wheel drive is a lot more fun.

they did from 10-12. fusion sport, 263hp/245tq 3.5L v6. 14.8 1/4 mile (sea level) 15.16 at 1300' elev. where I'm at. i regularly saw 31-33 mpg hwy with it (fwd, they also had an awd sport). sadly ford went to the 4cyl ecoboost now and screwed that all up.

There is a difference between sport and performance.

The 3.0L Duratec made a 240HP/223TQ. Making that a 9.5% increase in HP that is pretty sad for a "performance" verison. Not to mention that generation fusion has a slush box automatic transmission meaning less wheel horsepower.

Now on the other hand the Focus ST is a 57% increase in HP compared to the base and Fiesta ST is a 60% increase in HP compared to the base. They both have six speed manual transmission.....

That's also true but there are such things FWD longitudinal mounted engines like Chrysler LH Platform. I haven't heard of a valid reason to ever have a modern car with this set up. Just seems like a waste of time and R&D to engineer something like this.

Oh yes, I would have to agree RWD is more fun

Looks like the subcompact wars will rearing it's ugly head again like it did in early to late 1980s
