Yes, the Mk1 Focus was riddled with recall after recall and made it one of the most unreliable car in its time. Thankfully they all got resolved but to be sure, it's worth checking with your dealer (give them your VIN) if the recalls have been applied to your vehicle. Since it's been almost a decade since most of these recalls were issued, they may not apply the repairs for free anymore, but if it is a safety recall like the hub/wheel recalls that is listed, I suggest that you pay and get it done. Better be safe than sorry.
I personally purchased several parts for my ford like the lower engine mount, the spindle, some gaskets and nuts and they were all different from what I originally had in my car. Many parts were redesigned for this car due to poor and rushed minds of the engineers that worked on this car (just my opinion, may be partially true) |

Far as I'm aware, only a couple of those are actually "recalls". The rest are Technical Service Bullitins, which are like interoffice memo's of common complaints and solutions.
IIRC there where 3-5 Actual Recalls for the MK1. Which I can post once I'm home and have the info handy. |

Fuel pump and ignition cylinder are the only recalls I know about. Even then all the recalls are probably expired by now.

Did anyone ever get the battery cable recall done?
Mine are absolutely shot and it looks like all they did was wrap the cables with a bunch of wire loom. Which is NOT the solution for a partially melted battery cable. Posted via FF Mobile |
