Long time ago I switched over to synthetic. My wife at the time, whom I didn't tell about the switch, remarked a few days later that the car was quieter. I also was able to drive in stop and go traffic with the (dealer installed) AC on in my truck and not have the temperature gauge go into the red. Kind of sold me on synthetic and I've used it ever since. As for a better ride, more power ...

On my last car, I ran all Amsoil full-synth.

However, I discovered (the first/sales dealer didn't even tell me about this! ) that my car has the 30K maintenance plan - which covers 4 oil changes in that time period. Those are done with Motorcraft Semi-Synth.

Now, I had them put in full-synth last time (and paid the $20 surcharge) but I'm curious what you guys think... should I just stick with the semi while it's free to me? Especially since it'll be changed every 5K or so since I have 15K on the car and 3 freebie changes remaining...

Once the plan expires, I'll probably start doing my own Amsoil changes again.

Quite a few cars come off the assembly line with full-synthetic oil; their break-ins don't seem be compromised.

I concur w/ that. I changed to mobil 1 when my car had a few miles on it & no issues.

Seriously man, it's all in your head.
You're saying clean oil doesn't give an engine a smoother function?

Amsoil user/dealer as well and never heard or read anything about waiting 20K to switch to it....have been using Amsoil for 10K now and zero issues.
