Look at the initial post of the thread - They are dual-cone paper speakers. I don't think they SOUND bad - but just about ANYTHING you buy (short of maybe Metra or Rampage) is going to sound better and be better quality.

MFT still has issues - you can do a LOT to make the stock system sound better (and for a $1000, you can make it sound MUCH better than MFT). I'd only consider MFT if I wanted factory nav - and even then, I'd lean toward a Kenwood/Garmin nav unit or a portable Garmin or a smartphone with a mount.

When removing the round plug (behind the the door release handle) was anyone able to accomplish this withoug leave marks or gouges? I played with it a little last night investigating for when my speakers arrive but it looks like its pretty tight and can't be removed without damage???? Anyone??? Ordered Infinity Reference 6032cf from Amazon for $48.

about halfway down is the picture of that plug with a red arrow.

I pushed it in at that edge with a small screwdriver wrapped with a cloth and I had another fine flat head screwdriver to catch the other end of the plug when it popped up.

Got the new speakers installed last week. It was really quite easy. The sound is better but still limited using the factory head unit. All in all it was well worth the $48 for the speakers!!!!

Did you buy speaker adapters, or use the factory speaker frames for adapters?

I installed Infinity 6032si's in the front last week. I also used the factory frames and it does come out looking good, especially being able to use the factory connectors. When I tried the Infinity frames, there were some gaps between the frame and the hole in the door. Someone earlier in this thread or another thread used Scosche frames. They looked a little wider.

I had to cut notches at the edge of the factory frame to fit the tabs in the speaker where the screws go. The only thing I had to be careful with was to offset the speaker terminals from the factory frame terminals. Otherwise one of the holes drilled to attach the speaker would have gone right through the factory connector. If I ever remove the door panel again I will put some loctite on the screws also.

I did the same thing. A dremel made very quick work of it.

The adapters that came with my Infinities would not have worked at all--there were large gaps around the adapter where it met the door.
