Running 12GA speaker wire into the doors ???

Hello,
Today I attempted to install my new ID CXS65 components into my 2012 Focus. I had read on this forum that it is very difficult to run speaker wire into the doors due to the mylex connection on the factory boot between the door and body so I was planning on drilling new holes, using grommets and running the wire through the new holes. Once I looked under the steering wheel by the hood release lever, I do not see how this is possible... How do you get to the inside of the door jamb? There is a peice of metal that all the insulation is attached to under there and that is approx 8" from the inside of the door jamb! I beleive a forum member named Storis has done this on his Focus. Can someone please tell me what I am missing? I am also adding an amp so I really do not want to use the thin factory wire... Help Please!!!!! (Hopefully I am explaining my problem good enough) I need to know how to get the speaker wire into the door...

you need to check that area out good. The A pillar area has 2 parts, the outter part (what you see outside) and the inner part (that you see when you remove the kick panels). The inner part is NOT solid and has holes in it that would make it possible to feed a wire through, you just need to find the holes.

Thanks! Are the holes up high? Do you need to take apart the dash to access them or are they low by the hood release?

If you are very careful, you can either remove the whole door and drill it or, release the locking rod. Then have someone hold the door while you drill the hole.

This all being said, how much power are you gonna run to them?

The OEM speaker wire will carry 95wpc no problem. But, it is up to you. You will have to go through the molex if you want the 12ga.

Nice comps man. Woofers inc. deal?

i was about to suggest 16gauge. would be easier to run and would handle the power fine.
