It all comes down to airflow, if the 2.3 has the required airflow for 8000 rpms, it will make more power compared to the 2.0.

Yeah i have a st intake f2 header 3" exhaust cossie manifold and its by far quicker than my old 08 with intake header exhaust

Stroking a motor will increase torque and but can also wear quicker since the piston has to travel farther up and down in the cylinder. It also can't rev as high either. There's advantages and disadvantages when stroking a motor. It all comes down to what you are trying to do, you want torque, then stroking it will be good. If you want high revving then 2.0 motor. Idk if anyone has done a comparison between both motors fully built or not I haven't looked. But everything plays into a effect.

I agree w/ you. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Pretty much comes down to what you want. If you want to wind the piss out of it= short stroke. For grunt you can beat displacement for a strong DD. BB Chevy's have a cruddy rod to stroke ratio, but they go. The 23 has a cruddy rod to stroke ratio, but it works great for a strong DD & you can't beat the head that it has. It does the job for me.

Idk I haven't seen what the head looks like. The only head I have seen is my svtf head. I ported my own head but I haven't got around to throwing it on a flow bench.

The 2.3 has a 3.70 stroke which is still really short, the rod is 6.094 long. The rod to stroke ratio comes in at 1.64, which is really good!. It is all about airflow, the Ranger 2.3 has the 2.0 cylinder head and look what happens. The stroke and rod length has nothing to do with rpm capability, its all about airflow plain and simple. Shrink the port volume on the 2.0, power will drop.

The 454 Chevy has a 4.00 stroke, and connecting rod is 6.135 long. The rod to stroke ratio is 1.53. Funny how these have spun 8000 rpms with stock length connecting rods and rectangular port 990 heads. Heck look at the big 632 big block(4.600 bore x 4.750 stroke) chevys with good spread port heads, they spin 8500 rpms!.

You can't compare a v8 to a 4 cylinder. Two completely different types of motors. So are you going to tell me you can't over stroke a 4 cylinder too

Its not all about airflow either. The piston speeds in the 2.0 are slower at 8k that the 2.3 at 7k.

With more stroke comes increased piston speed, and then comes the need for additional airflow.
