Considering how there is a difference between those who have actual problems with seal leakage vs those who are only used to torque converter backed automatic transmissions it seems like when there is nothing wrong but it behaves differently they still act like children sometimes.

Yes, the motors might engage to prepare the clutch pack for the engine start, but they are either off or on, not sleeping vs awake.

If Ford would just fix the cars when they have issues and stop dithering around with hiding behind it being normal characteristics when there is something obviously mechanically or electrically wrong with it, that would help quiet the angry masses.

This noise is a function of the TCM programming. Unfortunately, there are probably only a handful of Ford engineers that fully understand what the TCM is doing before the car is started.

Regarding "waking up", I have no idea why that sequence repeats but I'm sure that it's not because the motors are sleepy.

On/off asleep/awake - seems a bit semantic. Are you saying there is something wrong with the car making this noise that Ford is hiding? If yes, please explain.

Considering that the movement of the transmission/clutch actuators is a function of programming and the MIL (check engine light) is not on, I would say that it is nothing to worry about.

Within the next day my wifes new Focus started making this clicking noise upon unlocking the driver side door. The pattern I noticed is when the car has not been running for some time. Remotely unlock the driver door the clicking nosie starts put the key in the ignition start the car ckicking noise will stop. It has some effect on the interior ceiling lamp such as sometimes I noticed it will light on as should when unlocking the driver door and sometimes it wont.

I noticed that if you try and redupicate the noise back to back it wont always do it. I have noticed if you let set up awhile say 30 min. and make sure the doors are locked then at that point unlock the driver side door with the transmitter key the moment the car door is open the clicking nosie starts. Comes from under the hood standing in front of the car right side is where the noise is located. My wife waitted 13 yrs. to buy a vehicle and this happens. We dont know if its damaging the vehicle or not. I"m astounded that there has yet to be a recall from Ford on this issue. I counted five pages in this forum on this same issue same problem with the ford focus. Not good. Ford needs to acknowelge this and do something.

You have no idea what your car is doing, why it is doing it, or if it presents a problem, but there should be a recall?

Although my focus doesn't do this, I really can't believe people are defending this quirk as normal. Especially since most people who are having this issue are saying it lasts much longer than Ford's "3 minutes" and even when the doors are locked. I have never seen or heard of a car doing this before. Maybe 30 seconds to a 1 minute can be understandable, but longer than that? really? As mentioned before I am sure this will wear parts out faster if this happens for minutes nearly every time the car is started from sitting.

This is just straight up bad engineering.

If you have no idea what it is doing or why, how can you decide how long is appropriate or what wear it is causing? I have not seen anyone post definitely that it went longer than 3 mins without them having any extra interaction with the car.

You must also agree with Ford that the shuddering with the DCT is normal, because afterall they SAY it is normal.
