Do the electronic odometer test to show the temp (in C) that the sensor is reporting. It might be that you have a bad sensor. We've had a few people with elusive overheating problems that aren't actually overheating. Throwing parts at the car can be expensive, so seek to diagnose first.
Do you have access to an infrared thermometer? That can be helpful in verifying that the temp being reported by the sensor is close to the temp of the coolant in the engine. I measure at the upper radiator hose. When watching the temp on the electronic odometer test mode, you're looking for outrageous jumps in temp, like to 200C, which is ridiculous and would melt rubber hoses instantly. On second thought, since you're not going full overheat- needle pegged right, then you probably don't have a problem with the temp sensor. Does the car overheat at highway speeds?

hope you can give me a hand, I have a 2001 LX, I've never had any over heating issues, the car has aprox 72,000 miles and it drives well in the city, the problem is on the highway, I drives pretty good, the problem is when I go over 60 - 65 miles, the temp rises but as soon as I go below that speed it returns to the middle of the gauge inmediately. Any clues? (2 yrs ago I replaced the radiator).

no, I haven't, and I've had the car since new, so it could be possible that it needs replacement. I'm going to check it out. Thanks dpmeeks.

You should start your own thread blakviper. You won't get many responses posting in someone else's thread.

Sorry, I didn't want to hijack the thread, but most of the time people attack you telling you to do a search, that's why I didn't create a new one....
