These Recaros look like they are really basically the same seat base but with more aggressive seat bolsters on the seat back. But they are too expensive to retrofit at least new from ford, maybe wait awhile until there are more used examples in the field, but I'd still prefer to have had the seats from new.

I do infact have a narrow ass as does my wife. I'll get my friends to keep their eye's peeled for the ST Recaro's. It only takes about 6 months before you can find anything newish wrecked.

Why wait for the ST Recaros? Why not find some new(ish) Recaros or Sparcos? The ones in the ST are pretty sweet but I'll bet money they're nowhere near being the lightest or most comfortable out there...

In regard to an earlier post. I also have the heated seats and my Wife would have me murdered in the night if I replaced them with light weight seats. But I too keep thinking about how much more they weigh than say for instance the recaro's in the Focus ST.

My JDM WRX came with factory recaro's that were very light weight.
I agree. The Focus ST-R even adds a very extensive roll cage for racing purposes. It looks like they might have removed the high strength steel door side beams and replaced them with sturdy looking Cro-Mo steel tubing structures.

Well in the case of the Focus ST-R dont forget the weight savings from dropping support for cargo and passengers.

I would assume it also has dropped the fuel tank in favor a fuel cell and surge tank. Also the weight savings from an AC delete, heater core delete, MFT + dash delete, passenger and rear seat delete.

I can only guess that if the engineers behind the ST-R were worth their paycheck the ST-R probably uses an oil cooler combined with a smaller alloy radiator for better cooling while saving weight.

The list of things deleted from a purpose built racecar gets long and frequently purpose built racecars are seamwelded.

Well since the ST-R still weighs approximately 2700 pounds, at first glance it looks like they didn't save a whole lot of weight by dumping all that stuff. Considering that they are starting with an ST that weighs significantly more than a regular Focus (ST curb weight is 3,223 lbs.) it's not bad at all.
