Actually you can run WM with out tuning your engine for it , if you run such a big jet that power falls off then your running to much even for tuning , if power falls of when running water meth then your adding to much water and or meth to the engine and you would then have to take some fuel out through the injectors
Yes you should let me tune your car to see what it will do and how you can get the safety/benifit of water meth with out taking chances AND show you how the knock sensor if set properly will make more safe power then your making now Tom

In my country we have 100% ethanol fuel, 93oct and 100oct gas.
We have some cars that run e100 from factory and those cars usually have 12~13:1 CR. Unfortunatelly we don't have an e100 version of Duratec. All modified cars here (FI and NAs) run e100, very very few run gas. I started (Tom's tune) to tune my Focus with e100, 30lbs injectors were needed. As expected, the car gained good power, a lot of torque from botton to high rpm. Cons were, the guy from gas station was becoming my friend lol, cold start is bad, have to turn the key 2... 3 times to start, and wait at least 2 minutes until I can start moving the car. So, I went back to 93oct. I think with 10:1 CR it's not worth to run e100. With a 13:1 CR engine it would be much better, would improve mileage and make more power. |

Yes, E85 is only good for FI or high compression engines as far as performance goes. Also, a good tuner can fix the hard start issues unless you are talking about sub freezing temperatures.

I do all my own wrenching, but I get tuning done by the pros. I've had enough school getting a Bachelor's and a master's degree in Engineering, so I'm sick of that kind of thing. I'm not going to spend all that time learning some specialized software just to tune my own junk and I don't need or want a job doing that.
I know many tuners from my time on other forums. They have tuned un-counted numbers of EFI cars on E85 and other fuels. Maybe you should surf some of the other forums because I'm guessing from your lack of knowledge on the subject that maybe you spend too much time here. Maybe it's because I live in a po-dunk tcwn in az, but there aren't that many high performance focuses around and the ones that are considered high performance are slow by most people's standards. I know I've never seen one I'd consider fast. My fast cars are just run of mill, nothing special compared to what the real go getters are doing on the forums or in the car magazines. A 500whp srt-4 or a 800whp turbo SS is no big deal anymore because tons of people have already done it and then some. I rode in a nitrous'd focus once, then took the guy for a ride in my stock turbo with some mods SRT-4 and he sold that slow pos soon thereafter and got an LS1 camaro. Go to srtfourms, LS1tech, evolutionm, nasioc, etc., the info and all the good tuners are all there. One last thought: You don't have to be a chicken to know if an egg is bad.

Basic chemistry lesson here. E85 (ethanol) is a polar molecule. Many of the tubes and hoses in a car are also composed of polar molecules. Using the rule "likes dissolve likes" you will understand that the E85 will disolve the hoses in an attempt to become homogeneous. Even E85 ready cars have problems eventual. In addition you get decreased fuel economy and all the other things listed before me. So don't do it!

You saying my lack of knowledge on the subject makes me laugh , I have given you many reasone why not to use e85 and that e85 isnt used because of it higher octane or lack there of , I dont know what else to say to you other then if your happy with it then go for it
An old friend said "if it makes you feel better use it" good luck Tom

If e85 isn't higher octane then what is ethanol and methanol Tom?
Also down in the south, more like Arizona, they have 85-100% ethanol in there pumps. Now if you came to the mid-west or anywhere that has very cold weathers, the ethanol content is going to change in the fuel mixture at the pumps. I talked to my buddy that lives down in Arizona and that's why they can run e85. |

Maybe the higher humidity up there causes the issues, but down here E85 rules. I was just in a group conversation with one of the best LSx tuners in the country, NicD (who also tuned my SS), and he said E85 will make a little more power than C16.
