I am on budget right now, I never said anything about svt springs. I am able to get svt damper kit with rear sway bar for $180.
How is cutting to shorten the rod and welded properly will fail? If u shorten 1 inch of rod and lower the car 1 inch, the damper travel itself stays same. Svt shock absorbers are more stiffer and it can be lowered to 2 inches therefore cutting the rod will give me 3 inch or more clearance. I have other vehicle so I am able to bring the progressive lowering springs and svt shocks to my work to machine and rethread the rod or cut and weld. I am going to cut the springs with band saw or mill it. |

I said "or strut" which is obviously what your talking about. How is cutting a inch off going to let it still travel the same distance? That doesn't make sense to me, and personally I wouldn't do it. Cut springs and cut shocks and struts are not the proper way to lower a car. I'm not saying it can't be done but it is not the right way. The ride and handling can suffer, but to each there own.
I'm currently on Progress springs and SVT dampeners and they can barely handle the streets of Houston. I don't even know how our other members even get around and they are slammed.

I didn't fully read the OP's post. All this talk of offset and camber lol.
Really? I would not want to cut springs or struts, dunno why you are doing that. Wont you get the infamous "ricer bounce" LMAO! But, I really don't know how people can so damn low as what I have seen on here. I don't think they took the approach that you're gonna do, imo - save up and do it right!

Factory springs shouldn't be cut yes but progressive springs which I have already can be cut, lot of people have done it even on coilovers.
I am not talking about suspension travel, the damper travel itself. Lets say that the valving in the chamber is sitting in the middle at normal height. Suppose you cut the rod 1 inch shorter then the valve will sit 1 inch higher at same height. Therefore if I cut the springs and rod 1 inch the valving will be at "middle" |

It will be in the middle but the actual travel will be shortened on the compression stroke. No spring is meant to be cut at all stock or not. Do what you want but you will get no one agreeing with you on that.

No matter if you had aftermarket shocks, u can blow them riding at low height, shortened rod gives more clearance before bottoming out the absorbers. I don't see how my springs will bounce since it is stiffer than factory and it wont decrease the spring rate or deform unlike regular oem springs. |

Not sure we need to bother having a debate about what should or shouldn`t be done.
Most are disagreeing , you feel differently , to each their own , its your car , you can cut whatever you want. If you have an accident its on you. But i will mention that most , not all , but mos have experience with the focus and its parts , so i would heed when multiple people are saying the same thing. But in the end is your choice. Your car , your choice , do as you will |

No need to debate, we are just merely stating our opinions.
I don't have to heed myself to multiple people are saying same thing, it doesn't mean it is always right. I already have done my research, there are lot of info on internet folks. If you don't like what I am doing then please leave this thread. |

Moved your thread to the tire and wheel section since your talking about wheels and suspension.
