"Computer" location?

Howdy All! I have an 02 Focus as well as an 02 donor Focus. Can someone tell me where the PCM/ECM (or whatever you all call the computer) is located? I would like to pull it and send it out to get "re done". Also, can you all recommend a place to send it to and what is the ball park price for that? Or would you all recommend a tune? or what?
Thanks!
Ian

EDIT: Also, what else would you all recommend snagging from the donor before it is gone?
Thanks!

its above the passangers kick panel. pull the glove box out and you should see the ECU with the GEM mounted on top of it.

as far as getting it re-done. idk what you mean by that like have the pcb replaced?

if it works just tune it.

just remember ECU has to match the keys or you get a no start

OH!!!!! The ECM goes with the key and visa versa....Thanks! VERY GOOD TO KNOW! Thanks Mike!
I spose we'll tune it. We changed the doors so maybe we will swap the ECU and the ignition cylinder so the keys match.
Thanks for the info. What kind of mods do you all do to these things? Is there a "what to do first" thread as far as mods go?
Thanks!

Swapping the ECU isnt as easy as getting the keys and ECU you have to change the ECU back to the strategy that was in the car as many things changed over the years , each Focus has a ECU code and only that code can go back in it , there is no performance gains from swapping out the ECU anyway

If you would like a tune I can help with that

Mods that work well is
SVT Header
TB
2.5 exh
Intake
cams

Yep it is located directly behind the glovebox in the big open spot you see here, where the two hole are in the sheet metal. I swapped mine out when I did a engine swap. But you need to remove the kick panel and such to get easier access.

This is a great forum!
The Vehicles are very similar (options-none) and the VIN#'s are just 32 off even though there is a 5 month gap on the dates. You think we could change the ECU's, so the key will work? If no, then how could we make it work?

In my case I changed engine, harness and ecu. But I kept the keys from the last set up. I had to take the car to a ford dealer to have the keys reprogrammed to read the new computer. Or in other word have the PATS system reprogrammed.
