Yeah that's Aug 14, 2012 as it is in the European date format. That seems to be an early build ST, but why does it seem to have the standard suspension set up as far as the strut tower bar?

DV61-16A200-A would be a 2013 part number vs the 2012 part number CV6Z-16A200-A, but that doesn't explain why some seemingly showed up in early 2011 builds off and on, but not in the later standard builds until 2013?

I also added a pic of the door jamb sticker to my Imgur album. The build date on it is 8/12, which is consistent with the 8/14/2012 date from FordETIS

Well, I'll be damned. I apologize.

If you're dealing with clunking issues already, and on an ST nonetheless, I'd say that's pretty convincing evidence that the reinforced strut tower is a necessity. I'd contact FordCustomerService on here and get your problems documented ASAP.

Also, please fill out this survey: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...lUekE6MQ#gid=0

Def one of the early build ST's. so would make sense that it didn't have the plate... well not make sense, but it kinda figures.

Hi earthling_david,

As Zillon suggested, I'm happy to get involved and get your clunking noise documented and escalated to your regional customer service manager. Please send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name; I'll do the rest.

Thanks!
Crystal

Hi stang74shelby,

I don't see a PM from you; did you need my assistance? If so, please send me a PM with the information I mentioned above and we'll get started.

Thanks!

Due to recent developments that have come to light, I've overhauled my clunk survey. It includes new questions that are critical in helping us get to the bottom of this issue.

Anyone who is currently experiencing a clunk in their front suspension, PLEASE complete this survey: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...B1Zmc6MA#gid=0

Even if you answered my previous survey, do this one instead.

Thanks everyone.

I just checked my car. It has the "reinforcing plate" I do not think this is the sole issue, nor is it the fix for which we are all desperately hoping.
Turns out my home a/c blew up. The decision to trade has been delayed indefinately. One major problem is that every car i drive in this price range (24-28 k) has crappy suspension noise.

While I don't think it's the sole issue, I do think that the reinforcement offered by the plate does help with suspension durability and noise.

I think that the ultimate fix will require new strut bearings, strut mounts, bolts, and a new strut brace.
