Hey Zillon,

As I mentioned to you via PM, thank you so much for all of your hard work assembling this data. I've forwarded your messages and your spreadsheet to my management team and will update you specifically and the thread generally as soon as I receive any updates or news.

As always, I'm happy to escalate any cases, address any questions or concerns, or listen to any suggestions via PM.

Thanks again,
Crystal

Zillon, do you have steel lower control arms?

I wonder if this is a similar situation to the lower control arm difference on different wheel configurations. I recently read in another thread that some Foci with smaller wheels have a "steel" lower control arm and others have alloy. I think the larger "alloy wheel" models have the alloy control arm.

I do not have the clunks.
Here's my March 2011 built SEL Hatch with premium package (17" mesh alloy wheels)

Drivers side Lower control arm (alloy)

2011? Alright, now I got nothin'.

I'd check my car right now, but it's at the dealership for clutch replacement. (If they deem it appropriate...) *knock on wood*

Nay, I have the SE Sport package, which gave me the alloy lower suspension arms, amongst other things.

Oddly enough, though, the ST uses steel lower control arms.

Now that you've shown me that, nothing makes any sense. Why would your strut tower brace be reinforced like that on such an early build? I wish an engineer from Ford could enlighten us as to the truth behind this whole mess.

Could there be some other odd package that caused this change? Winter package? Cars with the Kysor shutters? Certain wheel sizes? Manual vs Auto?

I'll check mine in an hour after work, though I still have less than 100 miles on the car so I don't think the clunk would be present in mine yet if it does show up.

I have an SEL with the premium package (17" alloy wheels) and I do NOT have that extra plate. Build date: December 2011.

I will OCCASIONALLY have a squeak/rattle (not so much of a clunk) coming from the front end when going over bumps at low speed.

Edit: I do not have the winter package. I do have the DCT and Kysor shutters though.
