Ford has all there "C" platform cars on the same platform. Focus, Escape, C-Max, and a few other models on the horizon. As far as I am aware this is not a RWD bias platform.

The mustang as it has been for the past 20 years has been on a stand alone platform.

Though this is wishful thinking that we would be able to simply transfer components but I don't think it will be that easy.

I'd still be surprise if they even release such a vehicle when Ford is closing plants left and right in Europe. This is approximately 6300 jobs lost.

Not the same. Maybe a version of the CD platform.

Okay, if that's the case than I'll make the argument that all CD platform cars are also FWD Bias.

Also, when I mention FWD Bias I mean that the engine is transversely mounted engine.

For those who don't know CD Platform cars include Fusion, MKZ, Edge, MKX, some other future models.

Upcoming CD platforms can have a FERWD layout. All past CD platforms have had a FWD/AWD layout.

Less than 20 years ago the switch was from FERWD/AWD to FEFWD/AWD

The Sierra was RWD/AWD and shared the same with the Escort FWD/AWD using similar drive trains.

I'm pretty sure that's also wrong.

" However, the car wasn't really an Escort at all, being based from a Sierra floorpan and mechanics, including its longitudinally mounted engine, and was merely clothed in body panels to resemble a Mark V."

"In 1988, a new Cosworth was produced which was based on the Sierra Sapphire saloon. 13,140 were produced until it was replaced in 1990 by a four-wheel-drive version, the Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4, of which 12,250 were built. Its replacement came in the form of the Escort RS Cosworth which appeared in 1992, which used a shortened and developed version of the Sierra platform and running gear but clothed with an Escort-esque bodyshell and the return of the whale-tail spoiler."

We'll never get it. Nice to think about, though.

Without going into great details, thats what i said. I have seen enough of both cars and driven enough of both cars to know this first hand. Back in 97 i looked at importing one from Germany while I was there.
