The SVT Contour can, just get the 3L conversion because the Contour lacks that .5 of a Liter. The conversion is pretty cheap and pushes 220hp and 200tq!!. Plus, it is updated with newer 3L taurus parts especally a new non-plastic water pump (damn ford and the cheap parts!!).

The SHO will get ya. The manuals scared the Mustang GT's of their day, and I think were actually were faster from a roll and had a higher top speed as well (don't quote me on that though).

Two types of SHO's V6 and V8.

I have a freind, she has a SHO V8 and its a beast, she never taps into its power but its a monster. Super High Output brother, its a monster.

The V8's i believe came with the newer body style. All of the older ones were DOHC V6's i believe. They will tear the Newer V8's up. My budy has a 97 or 98 SHO and i keep with him from a start till i shift into second then he gradually starts pullin away. This was before my Volant so i don't know what i would do now. He moved down to St. Augustine Florida at the beginning of the year and I haven't been able to race him since my Volant install. And with the newer style V8's they were all Auto's. I guess the manuals weren't as popular and so they decided to put all Auto's in them . Don't get me wrong they are decently fast cars and i think he ran a 16.1 before he left for Florida. My mother has 99 Taraus SE 3.0 DOHC V6 and from a roll they are dead even. Whoever gets the jump will stay ahead. I believe that the V8's are 3.4 so the displacement isn't that much bigger between the two.

Personally i like the newer body style, and the v8, but a manual option would have been great. Cool cars though, and very affordable.

they def are nice sleeper cars, you see the taurus and think, wow what a poser ricer. And then you see the legandary SHO letters and you hear the growl and thats when you know you made the mistake.
