Ridiculous fuel mileage
I've got 3400 kilometers on a 2012 Ti hatch and I must say I'm far more than dissapointed in the mileage I'm getting. It's actually atrocious. I understand the driving style effects mileage...yadda...yadda..yadda, but the sticker says 7.3 L/per 100 KM city and I'm flirting with 11 L/100. 10.8 to be precise. Thats F-150 V8 territory. I don't drive like miss Daisy but I don't drive like The Bandit either. I know 7.3 is a perfect world but I'd expect something close to that albeit a little more. I'm lucky to get 400 kilometers to a tank with 150 of that on the highway. I got rid of a car in part to fuel mileage only to end up with the same thing, but with payments again. Its the DCT and it runs great and is a joy to drive mind you, but this mileage is really not sitting well with me.

Do you have the Handling package? The 18" wheels do effect mileage by probably 1-2 mpg compared to the base 16" tires.
I have a TI - non-handling package. City mileages averages 26- 28mpg and highway 34 - 38mpg. I'm averaging 31.6mpg with 14K miles on the car.

I have the handling package. But, an 18" summer rated hard sidewall, low profile tire will no doubt offer less rolling resistance than other setups. That should aid in mileage unless the rims are made of cement. We are talking 21 mpg here. That is brutal. I'm not even taking it above 4000 rpm, and that's spirited driving. I'm in Ontario. Its pancake flat here. Like I said, car runs great and I really quite enjoy driving it but something is amiss here.

So I decided to employ the K.I.S.S rule and check my tire pressure. Low and behold each one was 10 psi under the recommended cold tire pressure setting. I don't know if that's the entire problem, but I'm sure it's a start.

I have a Ti Focus with Handling Package and I get 8.0 - 8.1L/100km Combined. Maybe 60City/40Highway.
But whenever I go on the highway and reset the reader I get about 5.8L/100km. |

That is a start at least. Cold rated is 39, so you're running 29.. that will offer up some resistance with a lower psi reading no doubt.

Man some of you guys get awful mileage... sel with auto, 29-30 straight city with my foot in it most of the time. The worst I ever got was 28... the ti can't have enough changes to kill the mileage that much... it's the same transmission right? They didn't sneak different gearing on the ti did they?
