Do we know what causes that and/or if it's separate from the latest and greatest MFT update?

Here's my short review of 3.5.1 from the little bit I've played around with it. I'd like to say it fixes and solves a lot of the fundamental problems with the system, but alas - it's pretty much exactly the same as the previous incarnations. It sucks.

Here's what I've noticed that is different. You have an option to put the temperature in the clock again. When you play an MP3 you get a lot of generic MP3 album art depicting the genre of the music the system thinks you're playing. It's insulting and annoying. Just fix the problem of vanishing artwork. Playback is hit or miss. I get a lot of indexing and building media commands all over again. I have to unplug and replug my zune 120 EVERY TIME I START THE CAR because MFT doesn't recognize it at first. My ZuneHD still is not recognized for some reason even though it played perfectly with MFT for over a year. There's no point in taking it to the dealer. They basically tell you to fu** off. Customer service on a personal level is abysmal but that's for another time.

There are a handful of minor toggle and switch changes and that's it. Nothing more to report. Another letdown from Ford and the MFT team. I'm seriously thinking of never buying Ford again, which makes me wonder how much potentially money they've lost forever just from this one forum alone. I bet it's over $100k. Anyhow, if you want the temperature back next to the clock, by all means install. If not, no big deal. Either way remember, don't update if you have NAV as you will require a new SD Card.

.5 out of 5

Updating to 3.5.1(not by dealer) did not fix mine. TSB 12-10-15 says it's a recalibration of the Audio Control Module(ACM). Specifically for builds prior to March 6, 2012

Can I just buy a subscription to the IDS site and $1500 in tools? I've grown tired of visiting my dealer.

I've tried searching the forums but have not found an answer to my question. Have they re-enabled programming the favorites buttons on the steering wheel?

Any way to get 3.5.1 on nav systems? Can dealer still do it or are we stuck waiting for SD cards?

Also, any tips for getting bluetooth audio pickup improved? I have tried 4 phones and no one can hear me (say it sounds like wind noise, even with climate off and windows up at low speed). is there a particular software patch or something?

I got 3.5.1 installed today from the dealer and I have navigation in my focus. I have only driven the car for 30 minutes since the update, but here are my initial impressions. Most of the changes I notices are with the navigation system. I see the following changes with 3.5.1:

1) The change view button was moved from the top right of the map screen to the left side next to the north up button
2) the "Dest" button has simpler options, not sure if anything is missing, but there is only 1 Page of options instead of 2. The good thing about this is the Previous Destinations button is now on the first Page meaning you can access it while the car is moving.
3) The phonebook now stores address (via bluetooth connection) again. This feature was not working in 3.2.2. I think there might be a limit to the number of addresses that can be imported now, as only 90 of my contacts were imported. So not sure what is wrong here...
4) Not sure how to explain it, but entering addresses into navigation is now through a pop up window. So if you cancel your address entry or cancel a search for POI you are taken back to the previous screen you were on. (previously the system would just stop were you were and you had to touch the screen to back out)
5) there is a "menu" button in the top right corner of the map screen that opens a pop up menu to mute audible directions, access navigation preferences, cancel route, edit route. There are 2 more options, but I don't remember them off hand.
6) Bluetooth audio button now has 3 light options, just like you have fm1, fm2 and fm3. Not sure if this is a new feature or ui bug, but I hope this means you can have 2 or more phones connected to the system via bluetooth and receive/make calls or play music from either phone. I only have one phone connected now, but will hook up my wife's phone in the next few days and see.

3.5.1 does come with an A4 card for the nav. Make sure you call your dealer prior to going to ensure that they have it. 3.5.1 should/will fix your call quality. Check in the TSB thread for more info on it.

Hi, 6769MOPARS -

The dealer will install 3.5.1 over 3.0.2 or 3.2.2 for customer exhibiting an issue with one or more of the following:
  • Phone compatibility
  • Voice recognition
  • Navigation issues
