Just got my iphone 5 three days ago. Pairing went smoothly. I have not upgraded to the most recent sync software, FYI. My questions are:
1. Do we always have to switch to Bluetooth Audio before using Siri on iPhone 5? If so, do I still have to push and hold the Home button on iPhone to speak commands? 2. If I'm listening to FM radio, will it tell me there's an incoming text message? (so far it doesn't read or alert me when txt messages are received) 3. Am I supposed to hear the text alert sound from car speakers or the phone, when the phone is synced? Thanks! |

You do not need to be on bluetooth audio to use bluetooth. But it does have to be connected. It's a "phone" feature so it should auto switch. |

My phone is synced as soon as I turn on the car. That means it's "connected," doesn't it? So far the text msg function isn't working. I had a friend send me a test message. My iphone received it, but it didn't appear on the Sync screen under Message section.

Correct!. The long awaited BT Messaging support that IOS6 finally made avail. And the biggest heartbreaker is that it still doesn't work on the Ford My Touch, Apple blames MyFordTouch and Ford blames Apple. We the owners are the ones that go without. Don't know if and when they'll ever fix it but yeah it's a known issue and as you discovered doesn't work.

I had no idea you could *force* the audio over USB like that. It never worked when I did it with my old iPhone 4 on other headunits. I keep a 32GB USB stick in the car with my music on it, so the only time I use the iPhone for audio is with Spotify. It's a huge bonus to be able to pump the jams over USB (although I've never really had too much trouble with Bluetooth). |

Am I the only one having issues with BT audio? With my android phone I can give sync commands to play what I want. With my iPhone 5 sync commands don't seem to work. I have to switch artists using the phone.

iOS6 BT protocols and Sync/MFT don't play so nice together. You can hook it up USB. BT will give you some basic functionality like track skip with the steering wheel controls but you will not be able to use voice.

I have an appointment with my dealer to have MFT updated through TSB 12-11-01. It is supposed to have Bluetooth improvements. Since I have navigation, it requires an update maps SD card.. I am also having my droopy rearview mirror fixed. |
