SVT Sound System?

Sorry if this is the wrong place not sure where to ask about the sound system. Because we have diffrent set up then the regular MK1 tried going to crutchfield they had no info they said it would cost 1.3k to scrap the whole sound system and start over because they dont know what could relay or what the base amp puts out or what the steroe puts out either and google isnt much of a help. If anyone can shine some light on this for me would be cool, I was just looking to get a new sub not sure if I wanna do a new sub in the stock sub box or something else

jus get a new sub n boks. itll be cheaper

Sorry I tend to do that, just looking to get a new sub. I'd like to know if I need a new AMP to power an after market base or if I can just replace any 8" in the stock location. They said I could not because 8" are to deep for the stock location.

Is this suppost to be box? I'm not sure what a boks is, if that what you meant. I never install them always have my friends do it for beer.

an new head unit (decent one) wired in correctly will greatly enhance the sound of the stock speaker set up. This is what ive done and it booms pretty well.

Yes, if you want an after market sub, you will need an aftermarket amp.

You can put some 10's in the stock box let alone 8's. Crutchfield is full of shis.

My honest reccomendation:

1. Keep it stock, or find a OE replacement for the sub if its broken.

2. Replace the box, amp, and sub.


I say this because the box doesnt do well with larger/stronger subs and amps. if you are going to upgrade, you need to do all 3 at once.

Also, I recommend upgrading your headunit before any of this, that will give you the best boost in sound quality.

crutch-field is full of shit and alway over priced, buy an aftermarket head unit, an amp wiring kit, aftermarket amp and a shallow 8 inch sub, i have a pioneer shallow 8 and a rockford r 125-2 fits in the factory location and the amp is small enough to mount in the stock location on the box. Mind you my set up isnt going to rattle the windows of houses going down the block but it sure kicks the stock set-ups ass.
