I have the same minus the black pack and the MFT. I would suspect that the interior upgrades in the console that came with the MFT (2 USB ports, video inputs, etc) would give you the tray.

That's exactly what I was thinking! I think it's so you have a place to put your phone or iPod when it is plugged in
