remote start

I am contemplating adding a remote start so my seats are nice and heated and my windows defrosted when i leave for work at 4am. I looked at the ford dealer accessories and the 2way for non push button start is listed at $297. I called my dealership and they quoted me $450, but really didnt look anything up. How much do they charge for instillation? For that price i could get a bad ass aftermarket system, but i really dont want my harness hacked because i have known people that have had major problems from that. any advice or input? Thanks guys.

Hey there,

Remote start would be awfully nice now that the weather is getting a bit cooler. Your dealership should be able to quote you a price for installation as well; I'd advise that you give them a call back so they can fill you in on the details.

If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to me via PM.

Have a great day!
Crystal

just called them back today. They said instillation is 3 hours labor at $85/hr... seems like a bit much to me. from what i have been told it is a plug and play remote start system and only takes like 15-20 minutes to install.

there are some units that make a plug in harness for the main power on the ignition, but every other custom needs are seperate. i.e. the seats and defrost. those will require additional parts and wiring to hook up. if you could get the remote start installed for $300 with the seats and defrost then that's actually a prett'y good price.
