I brought it to my dealer last week to address the issues. Though the minimal grinding occurred (wouldn't you know it - normally it was a lot) when I took a drive with the tech, he knew exactly what I was describing (probably from other customers as well) and recommended my clutch assembly be replaced. They replaced it under warranty this week and so far the car drives better than it ever did with quiet smooth shifts. I'll report again after more milage.

I'm very happy with my dealer for supporting me on this with no begging required on my part
Whats your built date?

Obvious? There are no known problems with the shifting mechanism.

I don't understand your point. There are hundreds of posts (if not thousands) in multiple threads on this forum from many Focus owners all over the place all having the same exact issues with dct shift grinding. A couple of owners have been successfull getting ford to buy back their car. These issues have been in the news and have affected Ford's consumer ratings in some cases (consumer reports). My tech reported a number of worn elements in the transmission parts he replaced (worn out after 14k of light city / highway driving). So yes - there is obviously a desighn flaw - we just don't know how serious it is - I'm hoping clutch replacement fixes it cuz otherwise, I love my car.

My car had "pcm to tcm reprogramed" (thats what it says in the invoice). How long does the new "learning period" lasts?

My point was that the only known recurring transmission problem is a leaking seal. The vast majority of "DCT problems" are directly related to the clutches (which are often contaminated with oil). In most cases, replacement of the seals and clutch assembly will do the trick.

Depends on whether the tech did the adaptive learning cycle. If he did (you'll need to check). it should take about 1600 kms for you and the trans to become reacquainted. FYI, the car loves to be driven hard so make a practice of doing this every once on a while.
