The sedan is classy but I prefer the hatch's agressive stance and I'm working my way through life without owning a sedan which has never been my style.

I've seen a few sedans up close finally and they appear alot longer than the hatch but it's not and there's a couple sedan Ti around here shod with nice wheels that look pretty good.

The sedan is 6.9" longer than the hatch and the wagon is less than another inch longer than the sedan.

Therefore the sedan is close to half a foot longer than the hatch, but only from behind the rear wheel center line as the wheel base is the same.

Well yes because in mechanical stack up or tolerance terms 1" (25.4 mm, 2.54 cm) is a huge gap, and therefore 0.9" pushes it well past a half of a foot longer, but to the lay person its merely close because they won't be able to see the 0.9" that closely apparently.

I had to drive a hatch for a day and the backseat leg-room seemed less than that of my sedan

That would be entirely psychosomatic as the door opening and the seats are located in exactly the same space, its only aft of the rear seat where the difference is. The sedan appears to have more room because its longer, but its also shorter and more confined in terms of vertical height in the trunk / underneath the decklid where as with the seats up despite being shorter the hatch has much more cargo volume capacity. Putting the seats down puts the hatch far and away ahead of the sedan.

Adjust the driver or passenger seat in the front for your normal position in a sedan and in a hatch and the rear seat leg room would be identical as the only difference in space is as I said before behind the seats.

I was debating about the cargo liner too and it's about $100+ at the dealer (even at cost) and on eBay, so I went to Walmart and bought a cargo liner there. Just had to use some scissors to make a few minor adjustments. Cargo liner was $19 CAD + tax.

Hope that helps.
