Large Amount of Condensation First Thing in the AM

Hey guys,

Jumped into my car this morning for my short commute to work, it had been raining a lot the past few days. Thought there was water on the windshield so flicked on the wipers, turns out all this water is on the inside.

Seems like a ton of condensation, is this normal?

Use your A/C on the warm setting to dry things out.

Thanks, I was just worried since it was dripping and seemed like a lot.

Trapping warm moist air when you shut the car down will do that. Perhaps if you'd left the door open a bit after turning the car off to purge the warm humid air from the car the night before there may be less moisture in the air to condense on the inside of the glass. That's just physics.

Use a rag to get most of it first

Like Suss, and the others have stated, its the warm (moisture rich) air trapped insidewhen you park it, and these cars have a very large "greenhouse" effect, due to the large sloping windshield. This time of year in our northern climate is bad for it, (the same thing doesn't happen in our F150, but, it isn't very areodynamic and has a small "greenhouse").
To set your mind at ease that it is just condensation, (and this may sound wierd, but, its effective), dab your finger on the wet area of the windsheild, and taste it...... if it doesn't have a taste (it shouldn't, LOL), its condensation. If it has a hint of bitter/sweet taste, its coolant evapourating off of your heater core, which is bad. (I haven't heard of a MKIII blowing thier heater core yet), but, the first time I noticed a large amount of water vapour inside the car, I did a double check just to be sure....

I noticed this and took a picture myself. I won't worry about it, though.

We had a few consecutive days last week where it was REALLY foggy and I even had some condensation in my headlight. Is that abnormal? It went away when the humidity finally went down.

That is abnormal. No moisture should be getting in your headlamp housing.
