I was going to say that the EGR hole in the header is an M22x1.5 but someone beat me to it.
But for those that are real cheap like myself, you can the block off plates off gen1 and gen2 Rangers with the 2.9 and some gen1 Explorer 4.0s.

Is there any one that makes a cap in the M22x1.5 threads? the above Dorman # 65384 is a plug for the one end of the EGR. I have thought about getting the tap, and some SS tube and making my own cap but that's a fair amount of work and a fairly large investment.
Guess I can just grab the nut off a tube and then weld a plate or pinch and seal the EGR tube. Has anyone located a cap which can go on the header?

I thought the last pic was of one that will fit the header?

Well the Dorman 65384 is:
![]() and the last picture on your initial post does not look like a "factory" header and your using an adapter. looks like you have a adapter that's a 5/8" flair. does the 5/8" flair you have fit the M22 x 1.5 threaded EGR port?

The flare or little piece was from the original EGR tube. Yes it's not a stock header nor is it a SVT header. It's a OBX header, and I ended up having to put a hose clamp on it to keep the bolt I used from backing out. In the end I just swapped it over to a SVT header and I'm glad I did. It kind of refined my exhaust note a bit and smoothed the power band a bit.

So if I get the tune to complete this egr delete, will it stop the computer from throwing a code? or does it just turn off the mil light?
I need to make my car pass emissions and they only check for codes here, wont actually test the exhaust itself. |

depends on how far they look. A tune typically just make the EGR as A Non-Report (NA). Most shops will just look at a pass fail. if they look at the individual systems and they see the EGR as a NA and they know it has an EGR then they may raise a red flag. So it does more than turn off the light, but it does not report a "PASS", rather a Non-Report. I am not sure if Tom's tune is different. But the EGR delete from Focus-Sport, that is what it did. Worked well for a few years until some stuff happened and the state inspections people looked at it and said... "wait a minute..."

im in the process of doing this now, but instead of a cap or just putting a coin in the original nut. I'm using quik steel and bonding a penny in there so itll be air tight lol. Plus I figure since quik steel is good up to 2400 degrees id be ok lol
