bought my 03 SVT at 18, still have it now at 19. love the car! i average 27-28mpg. best i've ever done is 34 mpg with it on a long trip w/ mostly interstate driving. you get used to pumping 91 if you ask me. it's not really as bad as it sounds. can't go wrong with a 6 speed! if you're not doing the shifting behind the wheel, what ARE you doing?

I'm 31 now, bought my first SVT (an 03) at 26, it got totaled the next year (%#@& broken water mane!!), bought the one I drive now back in June. My commutes have always involved a good bit of interstate driving and averaged 27-31 MPG in both of them, though the current one is down to around 26 on average due to Torsen differential. I've worked at a number of auto dealerships over the years, and driven a large variety of cars as a result, and have yet to find anything more fun to drive on a daily basis that doesn't cost 3-4 times as much as one of these did new.

bought when I was 19, now I'm 23! Thinking about finally lowering the ol' girl. Also I constantly get 28-32 mpg year round so I can't really complain there

You're absolutely right. If you drive sensibly you can achieve decent mpg rating. I do most of my driving in the streets, and I still get about 23 miles around town. But oddly enough, not that much better on the highway -- maybe 26 or so; however, I do have to confess that I tend to have a heavier foot on the interstates. LOL! That might have something to do with. (I do love to hear the roar of the exhaust.)

And, btw, I bought my focus in '03 when I was 58.
