I'm a big newb: HELP
So my dad and I sold a car for a friend, long story short, I believe I have about 200 dollars to spend.
Make: ZX3 HB 2 door... Year: 2003 Experience: Newbieeee So anyways, I'm looking to buy a new muffler .. yes, im 17 and I'm stil in that phase.. haha. Also a new radio as I still have the stock one. Maybe a sub if I can afford that too. Idk where to begin as far as finding these things and pricing how much it would be to put the muffler on and the speakers etc. So can you guys please help me out, I hope this is the right forum for this! |

well, i have a quality exhaust for sale in the bst. its the stealth from focus sport. but to get a quality exhaust system, your gonna be spending anywhere from 150-500. 150 being a custom exhaust at your local shop. your headunit depending on what you want could be in any price range, just keep in mind, if you get a double din unit, the dash console will need to be modified. and the subs, well if your just looking for a little bumpage, go check your local pawn shop, just make sure there not blown or anything.
exhaust link: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=298901 double din HOW TO: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=231948 and btw

I'd suggest deciding what you want more for the moment. A radio and a sub will run you 200 bucks. I'd suggest going on crutch field for audio equipment. If your new to installing any system they send a how to on everything for your car to install it. (Plus excellent customer service if you run into problems.) I got a jvc radio with an install kit (needed for a single din radio) antenna adaptor, 8" sub, enclosure, and amp for 215 bucks from them. It's a nice upgrade. I can send you pics of it installed if you want and run you through the install and how I did it in my car. Personally I'd go with that instead of an exhaust considering almost 100 percent of the time your listening to your radio or iPod. It'll be nicer then adding a short amount of ponies that you'll barely notice.

The stock speakers with a sub is plenty nice enough too so I wouldn't worry about getting speakers. Do you want just a muffler or a full exhaust too? You could probably get a decent muffler and have a local shop weld it in place for 80 bucks (50 for the muffler and 30 for the labor probably)

In all honesty, being 17 I'm not into a performance one either, I just looooove the sound but I worry about ricey haha. Are any of the mufflers from AutoZone any good? Will they fit? Anyone direct me to a site with very good mufflers?

no autozone mufflers. Trubendz cant get you a full catback for reasonable. A magnaflow or borla muffler (replacing yours in the stock system) will run about $80 plus install.
