They would only need a resistor if they worked as turn signals and only if they were not wired in series with the bulb or didn't have an electronic flasher unit driving them.
If they are just being used as marker lights they are probably wired in parallel with the normal tail light bulb so they would still go on even if the bulb died for some reason.

I'm wondering if this is related to the long history of problem reports here related specifically to the RH tail lamp assy in the 5dr? There have been threads here both on loose fit and paint damage caused by. Maybe they are off re-tooling the mold or something?

Seems odd they'd even have the EU part in the US factory to install in a US car "by accident" unless they were already exporting MAP-built vehicles to the EU. Plus they do have responsibility to track what version of part they put in what vehicle for compliance reasons. (How they know they need to recall some exact number of cars built in some exact time window if there's a safety-related problem.) And there are regulations that drive different designs of exteror lighting for safety purposes (not to mention all of the cosmetic issues noted above). So somewhere along the way they had to make a decision that the EU part was US FMVSS compliant before installing it. With two reports here, it seems they must at some level know what they are doing.

Although it does seem kinda like shipping a car with one door the wrong color. Does show how powerful the incentive to keep the lines rolling must be. Remember the floor mats problem after the flooding in the southeast from hurricane whatever it was?

BEV is electric Focus which has the rear LED tail lamps, hence the same rear lens as the Euro spec Foci

Also, these are not EU parts.

The Focus Electric and Focus ST both come with these, the ST3 on the ST I believe, so there's that.

I can confirm the need for a resistor on the rear turn signals. I swapped the rear to an LED and now it blinks twice as fast. I just haven't taken the time to wire it yet.

Here in Australia we have led tail lights in the 2 top spec cars (titanium and sport) and the upper red section is the brake light that is incandecent, the lower red section is fog light(both sides) the 2 lower spec models being anbiente and trend have combination tail/brake incandecent in the upper section and no fog lights in the lower section, i believe that when the st gets here it will have the same spec as the titanium and sport do

You might want to at least try replacing the standard flasher with an electronic version instead of splicing a resistor into the circuit.
Less chance of the connections screwing up later or the resistor cooking anything nearby with the heat they can, and often do generate.
