I'm happy to see the military buying Fords though. I would've thought for sure they'd be running Cruzes.

I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs and we have recently purchased several Focus sedans for our traveling nurses who visit homebound vets. I also agree with jdubhack's post. I am a veteran and I have worked as a contractor as well as a federal employee so I would say I have firsthand experience. Our budget is very strict and we have to account for every dime spent.

Also being a veteran, I am impressed that the Army is buying the Focus as part of their fleet of vehicles. I find it difficult to believe that one would critisize the fact that they are buying fuel efficient vehicles instead of dumping all of the money into Hummers and Tahoes. But ultimately, some people are only on these forums to spread their anger and hatred, not to be productive.

I'll jump in on being a Veteran, having intimate knowledge of the military's convoluted and tedious purchasing programs, and on my general disdain for people who are so obviously closed minded.

The local recruiting guys have had them for quite awhile now, long before I ever considered purchasing my own.

I think the $1000 hammer and $10000 toilet were done by contractors for the military. I think it was ratheon that charged the government ridiculous amounts for things like that. Totally different type of budget, much easier to overcharge.

I couldn't find a reference for that story either.

I completely believe that the military makes damn sure it's people don't waste money and keep track of anything.

Of course, they lost six billion in Iraq, in cash.

Do you guys know where that went? Was it paying people to be our friends? (serious question).

Let's not turn this political with stuff that has no relevance to the car...

It's nice to see that they are at least being somewhat mindful of their future costs and picking cars, Focii or not, that would serve them better in the long run.
