OK - I was able to do it

OK - that wasn't the easiest thing I have ever done but using your instructions, I was able to wiggle and squeeze the old one out and the new one in. I don't know if I'm going to be as good about doing it again in 20,000 miles though.

Thanks for the advice, I did mine today after 1 year/18K on the car; I unbolted the vent and unclipped the box as I needed all the room I could get to wiggle the new one in.

Bought the motorcraft filter from Rock Auto, good for another year.

The bolt size is 8mm for those that want to use the mentioned method.

How dirty is the cabin air filter at about 20,000 miles? I've been dreading doing mine. How long can it realistically go before changing?

It sounds like there is just one filter? I'm asking because my Nissan Frontier has two.

It's defiantly worth changing. The whole glove box comes out easily. I don't know if it helps but when I change mine I'm probably going to go for more room

Fram, Microgaurd, and Wix all have one available, btw. I work @ oreilly's and they are all in stock. Fram sucks, never buy any of their products lol Wix is where its at.

Subscribed ! Been looking for this thread and what do you know .. here it is!

Just ordered mine from Ford $25 .. 33k miles and sure it needs replacing. Thanks for the write up and hints Kevin_agar! Glad it can be done without disconnecting the BCM. Maybe the service manual should be revised to show this easier method.
