New Focus ZX3!

Hey guys i just bought a focus ZX3 with the 2.3l duratec it has some issues but got a good deal on it so i cant complain the first question i have for you guys is that upon start up the car will start good and then rev upto about 2750 rpms the guy i bought it from said it just started doing it one day and he never looked into it so i was just curious if that could possibly be because of the idle air control valve? if you guys have any other ideas please let me know thanks
