2012 Focus red information light blinks

I have a 2012 ford focus sel 5 door hatch. I have noticed when I exit the car and lock all the doors there is a Red Info light blinking. I've checked the owners manual and none of the red info light apply. When I unlock the door the light stops blinking. I started to notice this light after I had my oil and filter changed but can't say actually how long this has been going on. My old focus had a blinking red light when the engine was off and the doors were locked. Does anyone know if this is some kind of security light similar to my old 2002 focus or something I should take to the dealer? There is nothing wrong with the car after I start it.. no warning or information type messages. thank you...

Hi socityjim,

That blinking light indicates the Passive Anti-Theft System, or PATS for short, is activated. The light will begin to flash when the Focus is shut off and locked.

Hello, I'm new here and I've been registered for a bit now but have not been on here for quite some time. I understand that this is has been posted a little while back. I've ran in to the same issue socityjim has posted. I had recently noticed that my info light light keeps blinking red after I remotely lock the car. I swear that this light has never been on before!! This morning, I went to push the knob on the radio to on and I missed, slipped and hit the lock button and the amber light came on. I pressed it again to turn it off. When I got out, and remotely locked the car, the amber light below the radio on the lock button came on and the red info light on the dash is blinking. Ran a systems checks and all systems are normal!! What the heck did i do to get the info light to start blinking now? I've never noticed it before! Oh, 2012 Focus SE hatchback yellow blaze. Thank you very much:)

I would recommend making an appointment at your dealership so they can inspect. Ford certified techs are in the ideal position to diagnose and repair your vehicle, in addition to giving you some peace of mind.

I had already have. I spent an 1-1/2 in the show room floor walking around and outside as well waiting for them. They said there is no issues and nothing could be found and they said it was my alarm light. He told me that all vehicles would be different for their alarm system light. He took me out to show me his on his F-150. His looks like a blinking lock. So well, It's been documented at the dealership that I had addressed the issue. Then again, maybe it's me that never noticed it. I had always walked away from my car and remotely locked it from a few feet away. Same as goes before I approach it to unlock it. I just never locked it remotely and looked inside

Thanks you. I just noticed that same thing when I got home earlier the info light keeps blinking red after I lock the door. I guess I never look inside too after I lock my car. One interesting thing was that if I leave just one of the back passenger door open, reach to the front and use the lock button on the instrument panel, close the door, the info light doesn't blink.
