Car dies when stopping
I have been experiencing this problem for about a month now. The battery light comes on every once in a while when I am driving. No other warning light shows. When I am not moving it idles really low and starts coughing. If i don't clutch brake to a stop and keep the revs high it will just die altogether. My gf's dad is a ford master mechanic and he said it sounds like the alternator but I disagree. Usually when it is the alternator the check engine light comes on too. Any advice?

Sounds like the alternator to me, and if he's a Ford Master Mechanic he may know what he's talking about? They are known to go out on our cars from time to time.

I know and I usually trust his decision. I was going to get a general consensus cuz I know this alt will be a bitch to replace. Would have been nice if it was in the front like my camry

you may want to confirm you have no vacuum leaks at idle either. if it drops down below charging speed it can light up the battery indicator.

^this, also check the PCV hose too, those have been known to cause symptoms such as your describing.
