Ya I think when I was trying to pull that out it took more pressure than I was comfortable with at first but then got frustrated and gave it a good yank, out she came.

I tried every possible combination but I could not get it to disconnect. I could be doing it wrong. Is there another way to connect to the map lighting?

Just leave the connector plugged in and tap into the wire. Might be a bit harder but if you can't get the plug out that's the only way.

Where did you put the ground wire?

down by the kick panel on the passenger side. I just took off the first bolt I saw and put it on that. There are a few you can choose from.
